One week ago I purchased two violins from an estate sale. They were in rough shape. The owner told me they were just being 'sold for parts'.
But I knew they had to be saved; I knew that they were more than just 'parts'.
The next day I delivered them to an accomplished luthier and asked him to restore them so that they would be playable again. And restore them he did! When I brought them home a few days later I was amazed at the rich, warm tones that they produced. All they needed was a little TLC.
Oh, how glad I am that I 'saved' them from their way to the junk yard. That these instruments can continue to do what they were built to do: make music.
