Misinformed

I just got home from taking Elisabeth to the doctor and found a message on my answering machine. It was the hospital pharmacy. Here is what the lady said, "Hi, we have the vial of ACTH in that we ordered for Elisabeth. Unfortunately we cannot ship it to you because the cost of the drug is $24,000".

What? And to think I was overwhelmed when the doctor said last week that it was $10,000 per vial. Let me tell you how nervous I am each and every time I take it out of the refrigerator to fill the syringe. "Don't drop it, don't drop it" I tell myself. So far so good.

Anyways, I guess I better plan my two hour drive to pick it up. I still have enough to last a few days.

****I just went and measured the vial that I have already. It is 1 1/2 inches tall with a diameter of 3/4 inch. It contains 5mL of fluid. Really....$24,000 for 5 mL of fluid. How?
