A Milestone

500 posts!

I think this calls for a celebration, don't you?

A giveaway, perhaps?

In honor of this, my 500th post, I will be awarding one lucky commenter a print from Claude Coats.com. As you may recall, my grandfather, Claude Coats, was a Disney artist and imagineer for over 50 years (I wrote about it here). Of all his many paintings, my favorite is 'Across the Way' (pictured above). It is a painting of the Hollywood Hills, directly across the way from the home that he designed and built in Burbank, CA. This is the home that my father was raised in, and the home that my grandmother passed away in (just 3 days ago). 'Across the Way' has always held a special place in my heart, and so I thought it the perfect gift to offer on this special occasion.

To be entered, please leave a comment by 10:00 tonight PDT. The winner will receive a 13x15 inch print.

Thank you for reading this little journal of mine. My family and I have found such great support through the blogging world as we have dealt with Elisabeth's medical issues over the past few years. Your comments and emails have meant so very much.

Thank you, thank you!

(Winner will be announced tomorrow morning.)

OH YEAH! I would LOVE to have that in my home. Not only is it stunning, but it comes with SUCH a GREAT story.

The story for me...would be that I "met" the grandaughter of this artist when I was in such emotional pain. Although I have never held a "conversation" with this amazing woman, I feel as if she knows me better than almost anyone. I would tell people how YOUR blog inspired me through days of sorrow, heartache, frustration, loneliness, pain, hurt, fear, joy, elation, giggles, and much more. I would explain how one woman has touched so many by her stories of her family, but most of all her fabulously fantastic daughter. I would tell people how Elisabeth is going to change the face of disabilities. I would tell how Elisabeth is a miracle beyond words. I would tell of your strength, your focus, and your determination in the midst of pain to find the best medical means possible for your unborn baby. I would tell how this painting inspires me to never, ever, ever give up hope. Across the way...I have learned to grow as a mother from my DEAR friend Lisa!!!

THANKS LISA!

...I almost don't want to enter after Katie's sweet comments!

But, I love your stories of your grandfather, so I can't help myself! I love that I found fellow Disney enthusiasts in you and Donald (and your girls!). I loved looking for and finding his window the last time we were in Disneyland. I love looking for his name on movies I know he was involved in and telling my girls that your grandfather helped make the movie we just watched. I loved that as I was recently reading a book on Walt Disney World imaginearing it talked about his part in designing it and even had a picture of him (sitting down, of course) with Walt!

I love his art and I love that this picture means so much to you. I would love to hang it in my home!

My favorite painting of your grandather's (that I have seen) is the Dumbo picture! Like most mothers who have taken toddlers to Disney, Dumbo has a special place in my heart! How lucky you are to have that as I am sure your girls love(d) that ride also!

I am thrilled to pieces to leave a comment and be entered into such an awesome give away!!

Truly Lisa, the thanks goes to you, for letting us come into your home through your blog. Your stories and thoughts have touched me more than once (probably all 500 posts). And reading through your other commenters, I'm not the only one that has been inspired by you. The Sorenson's are a beautiful family. I think there needs to be a book or a movie made all about you guys! :-)

The greatest giveaway is what you give to all of us who read your blog every day. I know I've said it before, but you inspire me to want to be a better mother, a better friend, a better wife (well, let's just say there are issues on that one), a better person. I feel like I've already won!

Congratualations Lisa on a 500 inspiring posts. You are touching the world in such a beautiful way.
I admire your positive heartfelt way of dealing with life and always seeing the good.

I would love the Claude Coats print but also feel Katie or Kristen would benefit from the print more. I haven't read Katie's blog but Kristen, like you ,is one amazing woman.

Congrats on your 500th post! And thank you too. There are so many families that I have met during their diagnosis and then never hear from again as they get caught up in the their day to day lives. You have been generous enough to share your family with all of us so that we can watch Elisabeth and the rest of your beautiful family grow. I have benefited from your wisdom and the beauty of your soul for the last two years. Thank you!

Lisa, I love reading your blog... it makes me feel connected to you and your family and of course not in a stalkerish kind of way.

My favorite painting of your grandpa's was the one David had on his blog awhile back with the scarecrow. Although, really and truly, I love all of them:)

I have enjoyed browsing through your grandfather's gallery online a few times. He was extremely talented!

My mother-in-law grew up in Orange County, near where Disneyland sits today. Her parents had many acres that were eventually sold when they passed away and are now an apartment complex. I bet your grandparents remember a similar Southern California... not so congested as it is today. Congratulations on 500 posts- I have enjoyed reading them!
