On this day 5 years ago I gave birth to Lorelai Leigh. It was a Tuesday evening and my hair was tied back in a pink ribbon. On the table across the room sat a crystal dish filled with pink m&m's as well as a guest book awaiting signatures from her first visitors. Cradled in my arms was my new infant, soft and pink and perfect. She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen and I immediately fell in love with her.

Since that day she has continued to charm me....not only with her beauty....but with her personality as well. Lorelai comes with a certain sauciness to her, and that spunk has added a perfect balance of excitement and whimsy to our family.

But perhaps my favorite part of Lorelai is the part that we all met 2 years ago when her sister Elisabeth was born. Deep within her spunky spirit she found a tender spot for our sweet babe. Lorelai not only took on the roll of big sister, but as protector and comforter as well. Her devotion to Elisabeth never wavers and I am quite sure that those two are kindred spirits.

Happy 5th Birthday to my dear daughter, Lorelai Leigh.

****A few days ago Alexandra wrote a birthday post on her blog for Lorelai (she was too excited to wait for the actual day). I am going to take her blog off of private for today so that her birthday devotional to Lorelai can be shared with all. Click here.

*****Another beautiful Lorelai post, written by my mother-in-law, Susan. A must read. Click here. Please do.
