Our Hawaiian Getaway: Part III
Pearl Harbor
Throughout my life I've heard about the attack on Pearl Harbor...but even so, it was just a date in the history books. But being there, standing in the memorial, and looking down on the ship that lay at the bottom of the harbor made it real, oh so real. It was an incredible experience; one filled with solemnity, reverence, and gratitude for those who have sacrificed so much for our country.

Even now, some 70+ years later, oil seeps up to the surface from the engine room.

Our Hawaiian Getaway: Part II
Oceans & Beaches
One side of the island:
This is my friend Libbie's daughter, Lila. Is she not the cutest thing ever?
We spent the day at the beach with Kelly Slater (or so they tell me - I'm not current on who's who in the professional surfing world). He buried Lila in the sand...why do I not have a picture of that?
Dinner with a view.
And the other side of the island:
I think I need a bicycle like this.
These trees are all over....they remind me of that swamp in The Princess Bride.
Now that's a postcard view if there ever was one.
